Russia vs Serbia | Highlights Men's VNL 2019

Novi Sad, Serbia, June 2, 2019 - Russia edged pool hosts Serbia 3-2 on the final day of action in Novi Sad in week 1 of the 2019 men's FIVB Volleyball Nations League.

Tuomas Sammelvuo, head coach of Russia: "I am of course very happy for the victory, it was a tough game, we were behind in the fifth set, but today when Egor Kliuka was on serve he gave us some breathing space. We knew it would be difficult today, because Serbia were playing at home and they lost their first two matches. We won, in the end, and we look forward with optimism."

Nikola Grbic, head coach of Serbia: "Yes, I am satisfied. You can see that we completely transformed the team in just three days. I am satisfied with my players, with their approach and their dedication. This was a huge experience for them, against some of the best teams in the world."

Denis Zemchenok, team captain of Russia: "The game was really tough, and both teams showed some nice skills. We were maybe lucky in the end. I know that Serbia is playing without their star players, so it is great for them. As for us, we did our best at the moment, but there is still a lot of work to do."

Petar Krsmanović, blocker in the Serbian team: "Great match, it could have gone both ways. It’s a pity. You know that we are playing with youngsters, and Russians are missing only a couple of players so we have to be very optimistic with our performance even though we lost all three matches."
