Builder jailed for wrecking new retirement homes in digger rampage

Daniel Neagu, 31, sang, whistled and shouted 'whoop whoop' as he razed the McCarthy and Stone retirement cottages in Buntingford, Hertfordshire. Seemingly indiscriminate in his destruction, Neagu filmed himself as he razed the buildings to the ground. At one point in the clip, he even got out of the digger to survey the damage caused so far and to choose his next target. The total loss - taking into reinstatement costs - came to just under £1 million, St Albans Crown Court heard as he was jailed for four years today.
