I've been excited to do a Peloton Bike Review for 2019. I purchased this bike around Black Friday last November and have now done over 65 workouts on the bike.
When I was initially doing a lot of research, I found most of the reviews online to be fairly helpful but I noticed after actually getting the bike there were some things I felt were left out I wish I'd had known going into getting the bike.
This video covers as much as I could possibly think of I wish I'd known going into buying the Peloton.
I didn't really quite understand the importance of the shoes when doing the workouts, and how the resistance came into play vs. buying an off-brand bike.
Some notable things about this bike:
-I DO NOT recommend getting another spin bike with the membership and just trying to "match" the resistance based on what the instructors tell you to do. I read some people were doing this to save money on buying the bike and honestly I don't think it's worth doing.
-If you do buy another bike your position in the leaderboards cannot be tracked nor can your stats. The leaderboards have been a huge motivating factor for me, plus seeing your progress month over month.
-You must get the mat, you will sweat A LOT!
-I'm told you can get compatible shoes on Amazon but I went with the Peloton shoes (they came with the Black Friday deal so it was no brainer for me)
-They have a wide variety of workouts and tons of music genre's, instructors etc. so you've got plenty to choose from such as core strength, Yoga, Meditation etc.
-I'd never used a spin bike before this, or gone to a class and personally I find it to be the best combination of cardio to really get your body working without putting pressure on your body that say running might do (I would get side "stitches" running for example)
-Put the bike somewhere you can see it daily and where it won't turn into a coat rack. I looked at the purchase as an investment, spending this kind of money means I need to be committed to using it vs. doing some cheap $10/month gym membership.
With financing your basically looking at $60 for the bike + $40/month for the membership. Think of it as a high end gym membership for $100/month basically.
Overall I love the bike and have managed to stay fairly consistent with it, I feel a lot better doing into my day and working out on it every morning during the week.
