Four 1938 Songs played by "Bob Edgeworth" in Duo-Art Recording
Duo-Art reproducing piano roll #01120 issued in December 1938 was one of the very last recordings issued by Aeolian American Corporation as it ended its original production run in that format that began in 1914.
This roll is played by "Bob Edgeworth", a pseudonym of Frank Milne, and it contains a dance arrangement of the following four popular 1938 songs.
1. "You Go To My Head" with music by J. Fred Coots and lyrics by Haven Gillespie.
2. "With You On My Mind" from the movie "Straight, Place and Show", where it was sung by Ethel Merman, with music by Lew Pollack and lyrics by Lew Brown.
3. "Spring is Here" with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart, from the Broadway musical "I Married An Angel".
4. "You're Lovely, Madame" written by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger, from the 1938 film "Artists and Models Abroad"
The roll is heard on a 1920 upright Steinway & Sons Duo-Art player that was recently restored for its long-time owner at Historic Pianos in 2020. Please visit www.historicpianos.com.
