Can Hot Cereal Work for Diabetics? What About Buckwheat?

In this video Dennis and Benedicta Pollock try three different kinds of hot cereal meals - and test their blood sugars afterwards to see whether they spike blood sugar. In one meal they get exceptionally good results.

Breakfast: (Buckwheat only) recipe (for 2 people):
-Mix 3/4 cup of buckwheat into 2 1/4 cups of boiling water
-Bring water down to just below medium heat.
-Stir occasionally from time to time for 10 minutes.
-Let sit for several minutes
-Done.

Lunch: Modified Buckwheat recipe (for 2 people)
-Mix just under half cup of buckwheat with about a 3/8 cup mixture of ground flax seed and chia seeds.
- Pour the mix into 2 1/4 cups of boiling water
-Bring water down to just below medium heat.
-Stir occasionally from time to time for 10 minutes.
-Let sit for several minutes
-Done.

Dinner: Protein Powder recipe (for 2 people)
- mix 1/2 cup of low carb protein powder with a combination of ground flax meal, chia seeds, hemp hearts, and oatmeal, equaling 1/2 cup for the four ingredients (1 cup total mixture).
- Pour the mix into 2 1/4 cups of boiling water
-Bring water down to just below medium heat.
-Stir occasionally from time to time for 10 minutes.
-Let sit for several minutes
-Done.
- You can add sunflower seeds or walnuts if desired, and/or cut up a couple of strawberries and put on top after heating. (This mixture has so few carbs that you can get away with a few "extras.")
