People Thought My Natural Shampoo Was Toxic | A Business Comeback Story
#WTFWednesdays
My Work Through Failure (WTF) Story is a series where entrepreneurs and small business owners talk about a moment from their past that made them reassess everything and say: "WTF!?!" Join us every Wednesday as we talk about moments of failing forward and what these founders did to overcome it.
What would you do if you spent hundreds of hours perfecting your dream hair product, only to find that people thought it was toxic? This is exactly the scenario that Natasha Sheppard, founder of CurlShoppe found herself in. After many years of relaxing her hair, Natasha decided enough was enough — it was time to embrace her natural curl. This decision prompted her to launch a line of products inspired by her journey. She was thrilled to share them with the world until — feedback began pouring in. Her products were being questioned by customers because they contained sulphates and silicones: a big no-no in the natural beauty scene. As the feedback poured in, Natasha set out to reinvent her ingredient list and ultimately save her product. Was she successful? Watch this week's My WTF Story to find out.
