APRIL 29, 2011 - GOVERNMENT MINISTERS OFFENDED BY PEOPLE'S CHALLENGE

ALEXISHAFEN MADANG - A forum organized to hear landowner concerns about the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone (PMIZ) in Madang degenerated into a political mudslinging match between government and opposition MPs.

In this scene, the Environment Minister Benny Allen, tries to wrestle the microphone from local Kananam man - Francis Gem - who called him and other ministers "conmen" ....and then challenged his department's ability to manage environment issues in Madang.

This government sponsored forum at Alexishafen in Madang was also attended by the Commerce and Industry Minister, Gabriel Kapris, Justice Minister, Sir Arnold Amet, Madang Governor James Gau and Opposition MPs Jamie Graham and Ken Fairweather.

It followed another previous "people organized" forum held in Rempi three two weeks ago.
