In this video I briefly explain, in some detail, my PhD thesis in atmospheric physics, specifically looking at the dynamical coupling of the stratosphere and troposphere. I had a great time doing this work at the University of Exeter, as documented in my vlogs, and so I wanted to once and for all show you what I accomplished!

For extensive references see my thesis at https://www.simonoxfphys.com/blog/2018/10/15/my-phd-thesis. In particular this video was based on the background chapter (chapter 2), and the main results from chapters 3 and 4.
References that were explicitly shown on the screen were:

Another reference of particular importance, but not shown:

There is an awful lot in my thesis that I didn't mention in this video, mostly to keep things simple and to keep the running time down. Most notably I don't critique or really statistically verify a lot of the assumptions I made and methods I used in the thesis. I also completely ignore the difference between Ertel and QG PV. If you are an academic who came to the description expecting further details, understand that this is a piece of popular science communication rather than a video thesis! The accuracy of my QGPV inverter, as well as the accuracy of my new theory, are evaluated in chapter 4. Much as I would love to have dedicated another ten minutes to thoroughly include this process in the video, it would be completely unwatchable, and would have taken another week of work to make!
