The Death Of Smartthings

There is no longer any reason to buy anything from Samsung. Ajax's new Zignito Zigbee 3.0 sensors work with the Samsung Smartthings hub, so why do I think smartthings is finished? First of all; new customers no longer have a reason to buy smartthings because Zignito uses the Tuya platform and Tuya now works without an Internet connection for a third of the price.

Secondly, the Zignito Zigbee 3.0 motion sensor and multipurpose sensors work with Alexa directly if you have a zigbee enabled echo such as the 4th gen Amazon echo which is the first steps towards a hubless future I mentioned a few weeks ago. Alexa isn't quite there yet though and if you're looking for a smartthings security system then Ajax has everything you need and with a hub that costs way less than smartthings.

Thirdly, existing smartthings customers now have a choice of 3rd party
Smartthings motion sensors, smartthings multipurpose sensors, smartthings water leak sensors, and smartthings smart buttons at a time when there is no Samsung smartthings stock. There is now no reason to buy anything from Samsung directly and this will bring their platform to an end, it's only a matter of time.
