Fun for Kids but DOES NOT Come With Jelly Beans!

I am tossed between a 3 or a 4 star review simply because the jar has a slight crack in the sides where the two pieces don't stay together correctly and because it does not come with the jelly beans that are clearly advertised on the box being included. Yes, the seller states no jelly beans included, but I only noticed that after I had purchased.

As far as the actual gumball machine, it works fine with jelly beans, M&M's, skittles, gumballs and peanuts. The gumball machine opening does not have a flap, but it does have a small lip to stop the falling candy. My jelly beans like to occasionally pop over the flap and on to the table so we have to be ready to catch them. The amount varies that falls between 2-4 jelly beans at a time. Usually only one gumball will fall at a time, every once in a while 2nd one will slip through. The machine will work without putting in a coin and will also work by putting in any size coin: quarter, nickle, dime or penny.

The machine comes with instructions written on the box. On the gumball globe at the top by the red lid, you will see a tiny arrow with the word close and a tiny arrow with the word open. You will need to twist the top red lid to the right to loosen it. The first time I loosed it, I actually had to use a bottle opener gripper pad to get it open, afterwards it opened and shut easily. Whenever I take the lid off, the globe comes apart and I have to pop the sides back together before I can place the lid on. I plan on super-gluing the sides together so they will stick together without a gap and without coming apart every time I open it.

On the bottom of the machine is the coin holder. The base flap is very hard to turn to get it open and off, which could be a good thing if you were collecting money and didn't want someone to swipe your change. Once you have turned the flap and pulled it off, there is a big open space for plenty of money to collect. It is fairly easy to put the flap back on, but I have problems turning it back into the lock position.

The gum ball machine is made of all plastic. It is very lightweight and easy to carry around. Even though it is fairly cheap made, it works for my grandkids. They are enjoying getting a special treat out of the gumball machine and really like it filled with jelly beans !
