U2's "Achtung Baby" Documentary

"From the Sky Down" is a 2011 American documentary film directed by Davis Guggenheim about rock band U2 and the production of their 1991 album Achtung Baby. The film documents the album's difficult recording period, the band members' relationships, and the group's creative process. Guggenheim, who was commissioned by U2 to create the film to commemorate the record's 20th anniversary, spent several months in 2011 developing the documentary. The band were filmed during a return visit to Hansa Studios in Berlin where parts of the album were recorded, and during rehearsals in Winnipeg for the Glastonbury Festival 2011. The film contains unreleased scenes from the group's 1988 motion picture Rattle and Hum, along with archival footage and stills from the Achtung Baby recording sessions. Development of the album's emblematic song "One" is recounted through the replaying of old recording tapes.

This documentary is golden. Another one.

I was yet a teenager, brighter than I ever assumed, when the Berlin wall came down. Very interested in politics, being an "intellectual" economics "specialist", I did not know U2 were in Berlin in such an hystorycal transition...
Then "Achtung Baby" came in the most outrageous great decade for me.
I felt in love with a very controversial, some would say, piece of music. Great Times! 😎

An Epic, very European album. Even the stars of EU coming down on Zoo Tv background, remind me that it was a very dangerous "big idea". We're struggling because it does not work. And it's even more dangerous to get back now. Impossible perhaps.

"This is not America"!

Paul Hewson, you weren't able to lie to me, behind the shades, suits, alter egos... Whatever. Not that I'm a genious, but you said you were learning... I can see through you because I've been there... "You're dangerous, 'cause you're honest...". That defines me. It isn't popular, but it is magestic.

"Ground Control to Major Tom" RIP Mr. B.

Dallas Schoo is an amazing human being. I remember requesting those guitar finger protectors (don't know the tech term for them), and he gave them away.
I was in tears, after singing "how long to sing this song" (40).
It was a very spiritual approach to be in a U2 concert. I repeated it as often as I could. I would have never understood it, if I hadn't decided to be a part of it.
It changed everything...
When you'd have thought that it couldn't get any better than "The Joshua Tree"...
"Is it getting better or..."
🙏
