I'm not discounting that there are cases where a bodybuilding trainee has simply worked extremely hard on a given muscle to really build it up over the course of many years. However, *generally speaking* if someone has top-tier development in a given area compared to the average bodybuilder then they probably had a genetic propensity for building muscle in that area right from the outset. And in either case, it's not because of some special muscle building exercise or secret hypertrophy training strategy that others can simply copy to achieve the same muscle growth results. Yes, there are a variey of ways to optimize your bodybuilding workouts through proper exercise selection and technique, but not so much so that it's going to absolutely skyrocket your muscle gains into the stratosphere. The difference between "effective" and "optimal" is not massively significant in the long run. Oh, and specifically on the issue of dumbbell pullovers - I wouldn't consider these a particularly great chest exercise in the first place to include in your chest workouts. It does hit the lower pecs to a certain extent, but you'll get far better stimulation by just doing a regular chest pressing movement (dumbbell press, barbell press, machine press) or even a fly, whether it's a dumbbell fly, cable fly, machine fly etc. Arnold Schwarzenegger may have had a huge chest and also included pullovers in his routine, but he was also performing every other pec exercise under the sun as part of his twice per day, 6 day per week routine. So, there's no reason to specifically conclude that pullovers were doing anything magical for him and that you should do them too to build a bigger chest.
