How I Found Out I Had Cancer | My Cancer Story

I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma when I was 17 years old. This is my cancer journey where I explain my symptoms and the diagnosis I received when I was a teenager.

My cancer experience is a pretty common example of how someone finds out that they have bone cancer. It starts with joint and bone pain that is often attributed to sports-related injuries, but isn't solved by normal physical therapy. Sometimes the bone cancer will cause the bone to weaken so much that the entire bone breaks from trauma or impact, but I was lucky enough to discover the tumor through x-rays and MRIs. A biopsy is the final step to officially determine the nature of the tumor and how cancerous it is. After the biopsy, treatment usually involves a combination of chemotherapy, surgeries, and/or radiation. Look out for my video on my experience with the chemotherapy and surgeries used to treat my cancer.

I hope my story can serve as a resource for those of you who have been recently diagnosed or aren't sure about their symptoms. Stay strong!
