The 1990 NBA Slam Dunk Contest

The 1990 NBA Slam Dunk Contest featured 8 competitors; Kenny Battle of the Phoenix Suns, Rex Chapman of the Charlotte Hornets, Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls, Dominique Wilkins of the Atlanta Hawks, Billy Thompson of the Miami Heat, Kenny Smith of the Sacramento Kings, Shawn Kemp of the Seattle Supersonics, and Kenny “Sky” Walker of the New York Knicks. The 1990 Dunk Competition featured a final round of Dominique Wilkins and Kenny Smith. Kenny Smith being the underdog in the competition surprised everyone by making it to the finals and went into the final dunk with the lead. Dominique Wilkins needed a 47.6 to win the competition and sealed the victory with his famous two handed windmill dunk and became the 1990 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Champion.
