Today we scramble to get my annual flowers into the ground before they die. I work on planting marigold, calendula, cosmos, snap dragons and nasturtiums. My 5 older children work diligently with me, throughout the day to set up our arched trellis' for our garden. We plant yard long beans and north watermelons. If they do well, we will have juicy and refreshing melons in only 65 days! I discuss my plans for the summer garden as well as my experiment to try and grow lettuce and cilantro through the summer. The kids and I work hard all afternoon and enjoy a nice dinner together on the back porch to the gentle sounds of the spring rain.
