On cargo ships Bulk Carrier, Chief Officer is usually in charge of the forward station during unberthing operation or a ship leaving the berth. Mooring and Unmooring is a risky operation on board ships. There are a lot of accidents over the years involving mooring operation during berthing, unberthing and ship to ship operations. This is the actual footage of what happen in forward station during unberthing operation. I call it, CHIEF Red’s Eyes.
