The Big Apple at the Savoy, 1938

Whitey's Lindy Hoppers perform their Big Apple at the Savoy Ballroom on August 12, 1938, for the crowd packing the ballroom for the Harvest Moon Ball prelims for that year. Footage has been rearranged to fit the order of the later Keep Punching choreography, though we are not sure this is the order it was performed in.

Dancers include Leon James, Norma Miller, George Greenidge, Joyce James, Joe Daniels, Billy Williams, Mildred Cruse, and Mildred Pollard.

Some of the other dancers are almost certainly Al Minns (who links arms with Mildred on the Do-See-Do) and Gladys Crowder & Eddie "Shorty" Davis, a champion Whitey's partnership.

The band for the prelims was Erskine Hawkins and his 'Bama State Collegians, not 100% sure if this is the same band playing this performance, as my understanding is the Savoy almost always had two bands at this time in order to play continuous music.
