Marketing: Charity's New Superhero | Roxanna Kassam-Kara | TEDxUnionville

One of the unfortunate realities for most nonprofits is that they don’t have a sustainable, long term source of funding, so they can’t plan for for the future and expand their missions since they never know what their financial situation will be down the road.

While some charities might have enough funds in their coffers, there is a taboo against using donor funds to raise more money. Donors don’t want their money to be spent on marketing - they want their money to go straight to the mission. But this means charities can’t build their brands, which helps them to engage new donors and raise new funds. They can’t build a sustainable source of revenue for the future - and this is the Nonprofit Marketing Gap. Roxanna is a marketer with a vision – to help corporations and nonprofits partner together to advance social missions. Roxanna heads National Marketing & Communications for Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada. She was selected for the Women’s Executive Network Top 100 Mentorship Program, and has been recognized by Ronald McDonald House Charities Global as one of 49 Advancing Leaders from around the world This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
