Making Meaning of Heartbreak | Sarah Curtin | TEDxDenisonU

This talk is about why it is important to make meaning of romantic relational heartbreak. Sarah thinks that suffering is inevitable and can be intrinsically isolating; in spite of this, she argues that there is a sense of solidarity between heartbroken people. Heartbreak can seem trivial, but it isn't. Instead, it is an essential feeling and experience that allows for us to sense our own strength overcoming our heartbreak. It allows for unique personal growth and a test-run to make meaning of our own sorrows and suffering.

Sarah Curtin is double majoring in Religion and English Literature as a member of the Denison University class of 2018. She loves flamin' hot cheetos and laughing at her own jokes. She nervously picks off her nail polish and can't sleep with socks on. On campus, she is a Doobie DJ, tour guide, Tri Delt, and editor of Exile. Off campus, she lives in a yellow bungalow with a teal door on the northwest side of Chicago. She loves to meddle in a good way and can nod her head and smile so that everyone feels listened to.
