Slow motion footage of a dung beetle taking flight

We captured this stunning slow-motion footage of a dung beetle taking flight in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park in KwaZulu-Natal. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.

Normally flying at night, these insects typically hunt for dung over open terrain. Their flight speed is high, and are hardly known for their maneuverability. They often miss the dung they are looking for and land some way away from it, but they prefer to walk the last distance rather than attempt a more accurate landing.
