Another name for the bazaar is Sipahiler Çarşısı. It was also known by this name because it was among the time when products were sold for sipahis. Unfortunately, many shops were burned and devastated by a fire in 1912. Thanks to the mosaics unearthed in the excavations made in the 1930s, it was determined that the bazaar's history was built on the structures that remained in the Byzantine period.

The bazaar, which became unusable, was occupied by slum residents for a long time. However, when the 1980s came, with the initiatives of the General Directorate of Foundations, the bazaar was restored and reused for its intended purpose.
