iOS 11 - Messages App

Learn all about the new features in iOS 11’s Messages App in this tutorial. We’ll show you how to utilize the new App Dock, how to add/remove apps to the app dock and how to add/remove apps to the favorites area. We’ll show you how to view your apps in full screen view to see more options and all about the new format for the Messages App Store. We also cover the two new Screen Effects, Echo and Spotlight and the new easy way to turn off notifications in message threads.

The all new Messages App Dock gives you a larger view of the app icons, the ability to hide and show the dock and to add apps to a favorites section. You can also see a full screen of app options which makes it easier to choose items within the apps. Apple has refined the way you add and remove apps from the Messages App Dock.

This release of the Messages App has two fun new Screen Effects! Echo will take your message and deliver it with a full screen repeating your message and Spotlight dims the screen except for a circle spotlight on your message. Both new effects include some fun sound effects as well!

Apple made it easier to turn off notifications for individual Messages threads in iOS 11 and you can now do it right from the main Messages screen.

There are some features that were not quite ready when Apple released the iOS 11so they will be coming in a future update to iOS 11. Here is a summary of the main features not yet released: Apple Messages in iCloud will give you the option to store your messages in iCloud freeing up room on your device and allowing for better syncing of Messages between your devices. Another anticipated feature to come is ApplePay right within the Messages App! You will be able to send money to anyone you can message using your stored credit cards in ApplePay.
