As well as being Assistant Professor in Sociology at Durham University in the Department of Sociology and Deputy Executive Dean (People and Culture) in the Faculty of Social Science and Health, Dr Jason Arday has lived a remarkable life and been on an amazing journey and he details some of his amazing life and works here, recounting inspiring stories of how he got involved and charity, and how acts of charitable kindness both inspired and helped him to where he is today. Dr. Jason Arday is an Assistant Professor in Sociology at Durham University in the Department of Sociology and Deputy Executive Dean (People and Culture) in the Faculty of Social Science and Health. Jason’s research focuses on Race, Education and Social Justice and alongside his work with The Black Curriculum, he is a trustee of the Runnymeade Trust and sits on the Universities UK Advisory Board Member on Racial Harassment in Higher Education. As well as this, he is the author of forthcoming titles including Being Young, Black and Male: Challenging the dominant discourse having previously written Considering Racialised Contexts in Education: Using Reflective Practice as well as contributing to further work on BME participation at University and how Covid-19 has impacted Higher Education. With such a resplendent CV and fascinating insights on navigating 21st century Britain as an ethnic minority, we cannot wait to hear Jason’s talk.
