LED lamp made of wood and acrylic with smart controller - The Cube

This is a cube lamp with luminous stripes of acrylic. The lamp gets light from a LED strip that is controlled with a Wi-Fi controller that you can control with an app or via your voice with your smart speaker or virtual assistance on your phone.

In this video, you see how I made this led lamp. Here I used a pine shelf table as wood as this is both holed and straight and is not very much more expensive than untreated wood. One thing I want to do differently the next time I make these lamps is to glue the two layers together before I cut. As you can see in this video, I first cut them into strips before gluing, which meant that I had to use my electric planer afterward. I expect to get rid of this by gluing first and then cutting.
I use 4mm acrylic sheets that I cut up to the same size as the pieces of wood should be. To get a better grip when I glue and to spread the light better in the acrylic, I sand the acrylic with 120 grit sandpaper. The glue I use is regular superglue with an activator spray.

What is not shown in the video is that I use a LED strip that is RGBWW, this means that it has in addition to Red, Green, and Blue a warm white diode. This means that I can choose to only have it warm white if I want.

The controller I use is a wifi controller that can be controlled with an app that you get for both iOS and Android. Through the app, you can also connect to your smart speaker where you can give commands such as "hey google change light to green on the cube".
