The #Duterte administration will not be pursuing at least 29 of its original big-ticket infrastructure projects, according to its new list.

We compared the old #BuildBuildBuild list containing 75 projects, with the new one made available by NEDA, which has 100 projects.

The 2nd phase of the Mindanao Railway amounting to P71.6 billion is not on the new list. China was previously eyed to fund the massive project.

The list also showed that the P72.1-billion Bohol-Leyte Link Bridge is likely shelved for the next administrations to study.

As previously said by Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia, the 18.2-kilometer Luzon-Samar Link Bridge which costs 57.7 billion pesos, the 23-kilometer Leyte-Surigao Bridge which is allotted 47.4 billion pesos, and the 24.5-kilometer Cebu-Bohol Bridge amounting to P56.6 billion will not be implemented by the Duterte administration.

Meanwhile, we spotted 62 new projects on President Duterte's new list.

The most expensive of all 100 projects is the New Manila International Airport amounting to P735.6 billion, as of the latest government estimate. San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is set to build the planned airport in Bulacan, as no other firms challenged its proposal during the bidding set by the Department of Transportation (DOTr). This multi-billion unsolicited airport project in Bulakan town in Bulacan will serve as an alternative gateway to the congested Ninoy Aquino International Airport as it can accommodate an estimated 200 million passengers annually. It will be named the New Manila International Airport (NMIA).

The groundbreaking of the New Manila International Airport project was supposed to happen last December 2019 or January this year but due to the national health emergency, it has been postponed. SMC however assures the public that the construction will commence this year. The conglomerate has 11 billion peso performance bond at stake if it fails to deliver its promise.
The second biggest project in the list is the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge that costs 187 billion pesos. This mega bridge highway of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is a 32.15-kilometer bridge project connecting the provinces of Bataan in Central Luzon to Cavite in South Luzon. The four-lane bridge starts from Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles, Bataan, crossing Manila Bay, and passing through and terminating in Barangay Timalan in Naic, Cavite. NEDA said that the project also includes the construction of two navigation bridges, interchanges, land viaducts, turnaround facilities, special span bridge near Cavite coast, a toll plaza and administration building, as well as the improvement of local existing junctions. This project will be implemented over a period of six years.
