Trans Rights - What's In It For You? | Ramona Peel | TEDxOhioStateUniversity
Around the world, trans and non-binary folks are fighting to gain full citizenship and equal rights. Ramona Peel (she/her) will speak about how this struggle impacts everyone, and about how a more trans-affirming society would also be a society with more autonomy and freedom for everyone. Ramona Peel (she/her) is an educator who focuses on synthesizing knowledge and communicating with a wide variety of audiences. As the Lead Trainer for the Equitas Health Institute, she is responsible for creating and delivering The Institute’s LGBTQ-focused educational content. She is also a Political Science Lecturer at the Newark branch of The Ohio State University. In addition, as a bisexual and transfeminine person, her lived experience informs and enriches her work. Ramona has two decades of classroom teaching experience, and her work was recognized by the Ohio State University Political Science Department in 2004 when they awarded her the Henry R. Spencer Award for Distinguished Teaching. Ramona has a B.A. and M.A. in Political Science from Western Washington University, where she graduated Cum Laude in 1997. She lives in the Clintonville neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio and has two wonderful, supportive children. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
