"How Do I Stop Being Disappointed In A Relationship?" | Paul Friedman

People do not know how to choose the person that they eventually want to marry. You would think that we go through school and by the sixth or seventh grade as we start to develop an interest for the opposite gender or maybe the same gender that we start learning about what all is entailed in marriage. Because marriage is sort of the home run, the ultimate relationship that all of us look forward to in life and it's supposed to be amazing. A marriage -- we're supposed to meet our soulmate, connect, develop our relationship first with our friendship, learning about each other, vetting each other, and then agreeing, "This is it. Let's just the two of us be together." In our own world, I call it the sacred space of marriage, and let's make that world filled with happiness, filled with marital bliss which is unconditional love but we don't learn about that. Nobody is there to teach us because very few know about it. We have an organization it's called, it's a sister organization also non-profits, it's called Premarital Academy. And you can go there and you could start learning these things that we should have learned growing up but now you have to learn it all at once because the truth of the matter is that you're probably not entering into relationships for the right reasons. I'm not saying they're the wrong reasons but they're probably not the right reasons, the most important reasons.
