Requiem for the Forest Giants HD

"Requiem for the Forest Giants HD" features newly converted (2019) high definition video taken from Harvey Richards film "Wasted Woods." Richards witnessed and photographed the vast destruction of western old growth forests that occurred in the 1960s. Requiem for the Forest Giants HD is a remembrance of the giant trees which once provided the planet with the natural balance that humans have disrupted along the way to global warming and the planet-wide threat of extinction. The video combines film footage with still photos from the Harvey Richards Media Archive taken at the same time. Together with the music of Howard Harawitz, Requiem for the Forest Giants HD acknowledges the loss suffered by the planet and humanity in the indiscriminate and wasteful logging that destroyed the old growth redwood and sequoia forests.
