The 96th Annual Morehouse-Spelman Christmas Carol Concert | (LIVE)🎄
The world-renowned concert returns with three nights of in-person performances after two years of virtual performances due to the pandemic.
ATLANTA – Morehouse College and Spelman College today announced the presentation of the Colleges’ 96th Annual Christmas Carol Concert, a continuation of the institutions’ holiday tradition providing an evening filled with song and festive cheer. Provided at no cost to the public, the three-night concert event will be held at Morehouse College’s Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m., as well as at Spelman College’s Sisters Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The concerts will also be accessible via livestream through both institutions’ YouTube channels.
“Coming together once again with our Spelman College Glee Club sisters is always a cherished opportunity to unite our campuses to amplify the essence of the holidays,” said Morehouse College Glee Club director Dr. David Morrow. “This concert is a joint tradition that allows us to gather our voices and present a collaborative concert with a remarkable sound and feeling to our audience.”
The Christmas Carol Concert is historically the start of the holiday season for the Atlanta community through celebration and song. Both College’s Glee Clubs will perform an array of traditional carols and contemporary-style interpretations of various holiday music to set the spirit of the season.
“This year we are eager to showcase our music mastery as a special gift to appreciate our Atlanta community that has continued to support both institutions and musical ensembles,” said Dr. Kevin Johnson, Glee Club director for Spelman College.
