Rada Airlines Ilyushin IL-62 Crosswind Landing & Take Off Basel Mulhouse

I've litterally just returned home from a short trip to Basel. I've just edited and uploaded this video as fast as could cause this is a very special one. Some days ago I got word that the Rada Airlines Ilyushin IL-62 was expected at Basel on the 28th of January. As you might remember I missed this bird in a cruel way at Madrid Barajas last year. So I took my chance and booked a two day trip to Basel. And so on a very windy tuesday I caught my first IL-62! It came it from Vitebsk, Belarus. It first flew past the airport on downwind. Then it made a super wobbly and mega smoky landing at runway 33 with such speed that it needed the whole runway to stop! Me and about 30 other spotters watched in awe. What a onbelievebly cool plane! 1.5 hours later EW-450TR lined up on runway 33 and did an incredibly speedy take off. That was because of the hard wind the only 600 kg of cargo: reliefequipment and medication destined for people in Syria. The flight went to Damascus. It was an amazing experience to catch this magnificent aircraft. Amazing sounds from the rear mounted Soloviev D-30 engines! It was perfect redemption after what happened at Barajas last year. This 34 year old Soviet plane started life in 1985 with Interflug and was converted to a freigther later in life. It's the only active civilian IL-62 in the world right now. Enjoy guys!
