XProHeli Overview and First Flight - 3D Robotics Iris+

This is an awesome quadcopter for entry level aerial video enthusiast who want to learn how to fly. The Iris+ is a very versatile and feature packed platform capable of full autonomous flights and even features a 'follow me' mode that will track a users cell phone coordinates while on the move.

This is a great extremely cost-effective platform for those on a budget, beginners and seasoned pilots alike will enjoy the flight characteristics of the Iris+.

One nice thing that we have noted during all of our test flight test is the fact that the flight controller will not allow you to accidentally drop the quad out of the sky. The built in barometer used for altitude hold is very accurate and greatly assist in throttle control. Throttling down to 0% while 30 feet off the ground results in a controlled decent, which is really nice as it make it much easier for beginners to get used to throttle control during take off and landings.

Another nice feature is the Iris+ comes pre-programmed with a virtual "Geo-Fence" so if you get more than 300 meters away from your take off point or above 100 meters AGL (above ground level) the autopilot will initiate a return to home - basically if it gets away from you or you lose orientation while flying off in the distance either the failsafe will be activated at 300 meters or you can also manually activate the return to home at any time to return the quad back to your home position.

In our opinion the Iris+ for the price just plain rocks. There is not a better, more reliable platform out there for the price. And to top it off the Iris+ is engineered in the USA built on open source code and open source hardware.
