Symbiosis of Geo-data and AI, the Next Big Thing in Geoinformatics | Alumni Talks 2023

Geospatial engineer and a seasoned GIS Expert, Muhammad Hamza Zubair is a wonk with a passion for data and possesses expertise in ‘All things Data’, solving puzzles with data to draw conclusions and reveal meaningful insights. He works with 3D data & process automation at EyeVi Technologies. Previously had a distinguished career in geoinformatics in the Middle East and Pakistan with different projects in infrastructure management and urban development. He has an MSc in Geoinformatics for Urbanised Society from the University of Tartu.

The transition from an industrial society to an information society led to an explosion in the amount of available data and a sizable percentage of that is in fact, spatial big data. Geospatial artificial intelligence (geoAI) is an emerging scientific discipline that combines innovations in spatial science, artificial intelligence methods in machine learning (e.g., deep learning), data mining, and high-performance computing to extract knowledge from spatial big data.
