Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 review unboxing POV

In this video I unbox the Leupold vx-1 3-9x40mm, show you some closeup of it, run through the features, show you what the reticle and sight picture looks like, and give my final impressions.

I purchased this from BHphoto for $169 shipped with free eye protection. This is a very good value for a scope that will fit most people providing excellent optics. Very little color fringing, forgiving eye placement, sharp and crystal clear optics with a very flat image, and a very basic uncluttered reticle. What more could you want at this price point for a hunting / plinking rifle scope? Not to mention the lifetime Leupold warranty and the fact it's designed, manufactured, and assembled in the USA.

As an owner of the comparable Leupold VX-2 in 3-9x40mm I can not see any optical difference between the two and only the slightest cosmetic differences. I would save the $100 or so dollars and get this VX-1.

Unfortunately one of the internal glass elements has something stuck to it. I'm not sure if I will contact Leupold about this or not. Looking through the scope you really don't notice it, but it's still a shame that it made it past quality control. This is the first Leupold I've had with an imperfection in the optics.
