Escaping the grind: Travelling around Australia while homeschooling | ABC News

Thousands of parents dream of it, the Pittman family did it - they took their kids out of school, and set off for half a year to show their boys as much of Australia as they could get to.

With everything they needed towed behind them in a camper trailer, Kim and Brett took their boys through five states and one territory to teach them about deserts, coral reefs, gorges, plateaus, mining towns, Indigenous communities, farms, local history and geology. And they are not alone.

Families are now turning to lengthy trips in such large numbers the caravan industry has seen a surge in sales of its models with bunks.
