Dark Photos, a new photo documentary series from Dark5, presents one of the most dangerous selfies in the world taken in front of Chernobyl's Elephant's Foot. The object is formed from hardened corium, a unique substance that is much like radioactive lava and comprised of silicon dioxide with traces of uranium. At the height of the Chernobyl incident, this mass of corium threatened to melt through the reactor's concrete floor and into the ground water below. The Elephant's Foot is so radioactive in this photo, that even in 1996, Artur Korneyev, Deputy Director of Shelter Object, appears blurred by the radiation.
