Kerbal Space Program | Apollo-Venus Flyby (ft. Bluedog Design Bureau)

The Apollo Venus Flyby proposal was a planned mission by NASA to send astronauts to Venus, with the goal of exploring and studying Earth's closest planetary neighbor. Using a wet workshop not unlike Skylab, the mission would fling the workshop and a modified Apollo spacecraft on a one-year mission with a flyby at Venus. Several probes (and possibly a lander) would be deployed as observations were made by the crew. The mission was ultimately cancelled due to high cost estimates and funding slowly being withdrawn from NASA in the wake of the lunar landing. NASA shifted its focus to other space exploration projects, such as the Space Shuttle program, and never pursued a manned mission to Venus.
