Ontario explosion leaves two dead as fireworks stash explodes rocking California neighborhood

AN explosion has left two people dead in California as footage showed a huge plume of smoke after a fireworks stash blew up.

Multiple blasts reportedly erupted shortly after 12.30pm local time, forcing fire crews to evacuate the area "between Fern and San Antonio".

"Someone’s firework stack went off in Ontario shook our whole neighborhood," one social media user wrote, including a video of the explosion.

Another user said that the blast "shook their parents house".

Footage showed several fireworks exploding followed by a huge plume of smoke billowing into the sky.

There are reports of damage to numerous houses - with flames engulfing two homes - however injuries have not yet been clarified, according to ABC7.

However, it said that emergency crews were seen cordoning off an area with crime scene tape and covering what appeared to be a body at about 2pm.
