From Tick Bite to Tick-Borne Encephalitis (TBE) – Our Story
Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is a rare infection that can lead to debilitating and sometimes fatal inflammation of the brain, known as encephalitis.
Encephalitis affects 500,000 people around the world annually and has many causes, one of them being the TBE virus which can be transmitted to humans through a single bite of an infected tick. Infected ticks have been reported across Europe and in parts of Asia and Tunisia.
Currently there is no cure for TBE, so prevention is key. In this video, you can learn from people severely affected by TBE about what it is like to live with the condition and the importance of helping protect yourself against TBE during tick season when traveling to TBE endemic regions.
