Muslims in Sao Paulo celebrate Eid-al-Fitr in Latin America’s oldest mosque
Friday marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan – when Muslims observe fasting from sunrise to sunset to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to prophet Muhammad, according to Islamic belief. Celebrations of the Eid al Fitr – the end of the fasting – takes place all over the world. In Sao Paulo, about four thousand Muslims gathered in the city’s main mosque – the Mesquita Brasil.
