Back To Basics: Challah Bread (VEGAN!) | Georgia's Cakes

YES, YOU HEARD IT...VEGAN! (Apart from the egg wash ;) )

Challah is a traditional Jewish bread usually eaten on Friday night for Shabbat, but it's totally acceptable to make this and enjoy is any day of the week! It's one of the easiest bread recipes I've come across and once again, no mixer or special equipment needed!
Some recipes have eggs in, however, this one doesn't! You can get really creative with the shapes you make too but I find this twisted weave the easiest yet most effective. See recipe below!

500g strong white flour
15g dry yeast
30g white sugar
100g flavourless oil (canola or vegetable)
250ml warm water
1/2 tsp salt

Optional egg wash

Bake at 180°C for around 30 minutes depending on the shape
