SURPRISE INSIDE! 4th of July Cake!

RECIPE:

Cake:
- 1/2 red velvet cake mix prepared in two 6 inch pans
- 1/2 white cake mix prepared in two 6 inch pans

Buttercream:
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (room temp)
- 1/3 cup vegetable shortening
- 3 1/2 to 4 cups of sifted confectioners sugar
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/2 TB vanilla extract

1. Beat the butter and shortening in a medium bowl until fluffy
2. Add in the sugar 1 cup at a time and mix well (until incorporated)
3. Add salt and extract and combine
4. Frosting should be white and fluffy! (Don't over beat)

Sprinkles:
- An assortment of red, white, and blue sprinkles with different
shapes and sizes
