AHORNTV - DEUTSCHE in KANADA - (TEIL 1) INGE ROECKER
Super super interesting! We did with Architect Inge Roecker a walk through the "city of the future"-example on the Bundesgartenschau, the Federal German Garden Show when it was still under construction... happening every 4 years at another location in Germany, this time in Heilbronn. Inge has got the license for both countries, Germany and Canada, and is associate Professor at the University of British Columbia ... She gives some MAJOR input how the clock ticks for developers on the two very different sides when it comes to LEEDS and Passive House construction.
"Biography:
Inge contributes to teaching design at all levels in the Master of Architecture program. She has led community outreach design studios in partnership with the City of Vancouver’s Chinatown Revitalization Program to explore the possibilities of transforming the historic district into a contemporary neighbourhood. Before teaching at UBC, she taught graduate-level design at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Architecture and in the Department of Architecture at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
Her research focuses on sustainable forms of urban habitation and its relationship with evolving social and cultural entities. She is the co-founder of the interdisciplinary research collective, living lab, which centers its inquiry and work on her interests in urban living and urban communities. Alongside work with living lab, Inge is a registered architect in Germany and principal of ASIR architekten, a critical architectural practice that focuses on contemporary programming, cultural context, and sustainable building. The social, cultural, and material significance of her practice’s work has been recognized internationally through awards, publications, and exhibitions. Prior to establishing her own architectural practice, Inge worked with the exemplary German practice Behnisch & Partners as a project architect." School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, UBC, Vancouver BC.
