Dennis Rodman's Ultimate Trust in Michael Jordan: Game 6 1998 Jazz vs Bulls - Last Dance
The last dance. The very last dance: Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals between the Utah Jazz and the visiting Chicago Bulls. It came down to the wire and became one of the most famous moments in sports history.
Most of you have propably seen this game and especially the final moments of the game over and over again. It may be the most replayed sequence in basketball history. But there is always something your eyes don’t catch even if you watch it a thousand times (just like that little boy in the picture of this last shot right above the shot clock holding up six fingers.) :)
One thing that really caught my eye and was kind of shocking (in a positive way) to see was Dennis Rodman’s behaviour in the last 2 minutes of the game. He makes his own kind of statement to who the GOAT really is: showing the ultimate trust to his teammate’s abilities to perform in the clutch: Michael Jordan scored the last 8 points for the Chicago Bulls. The last four and especially the last two are what everybody remembers. What most people forget is how he willed his way to the free throw line after realizing he was tired and his jump shot was not falling. Before his famous heroics he made 4/4 from the foul line. Dennis Rodman is best known for his hustle play and his rebounding abilities. But when Jordan was at the line in the final 2 minutes of a game 6 of the NBA Finals Dennis Rodman showed how much he trusted Jordan to deliver and not even considered going for the rebound. He even talks to the crowd while Jordan is at the line. And he was proven right. Despite “running on fumes” as was obvious to the audience and as Bob Costas stated he made all four foul shots to keep the Bulls in the game and set the stage for his greatest performance in the clutch.
