Lisianthus kwekerij (nursery) Sunrise Holland

Lisianthus kwekerij Sunrise Holland
The most beautiful Lisianthuses, in a multitude of gorgeous colours, are grown under tropical conditions!
Each Lisianthus stem starts its life journey through the nursery as a cutting with a length of approximately 8 centimetres.
The cuttings come from cutting suppliers Florensis and Van Egmond and are supplied fresh every single day.
The Lisianthus seed originates from Japan. This is where breeders like Sakata, Takii and Sumika are located.
Breeding a completely new variety of Lisianthus takes an average of 5 years.
The breeder, the cutting company and the nursery all work together very closely during the breeding process.
The Lisianthus seeds are so small that they're barely visible to the naked eye.
One kilo will contain an impressive 25 million seeds.
The seeds' small size results in them being 'pelleted'. This means each individual seed is given an extra casing which allows for mechanical sowing.
The cuttings are transferred to the nursery when they are 12 weeks old, following a careful selection process.
Preparations are made for the start of a new cultivation at the nursery.
Steaming follows the digging process.
The soil is brought into contact with steam for many hours, which reaches a temperature of more than 100 degrees.
Bacteria, viruses and other pathogens subsequently literally don't stand a chance.
Planting is done with a special planting machine, which was developed together with our ISO GROUP partner.
Three computer-controlled robotic arms on board the planting machine ensure the plants are planted with the utmost precision.
Irrigation is an important part of the cultivation process.
This is all about the right amount of water at the right time.
The greenhouse roof can be closed with a special screen in order to retain valuable heat.
At the same time, energy-efficient LED lamps provide a very high light output at the lowest possible power consumption.
One of Sunrise Holland Nursery's most important characteristics is 'Tranquillity in cultivation'.
Each Lisianthus is given plenty of time to develop into a heavy stem, each featuring a multitude of beautiful flowers.
The flowers are carefully and manually picked one by one and subsequently placed on a harvesting belt.
The harvesting belt is moved several times a day during harvesting.
The belt is rolled up across the entire width of the greenhouse when moving and is then rolled out again at the new harvesting location.
Careful selections are made based on the stem's ripeness and weight during the harvesting process.
The Sunrise Holland Nursery has two output lines. This allows 2 teams to harvest at the same time.
The stems arrive at the packaging department following a short underground journey.
Packing is mainly done manually and is done with the utmost care and precision.
Sunrise Holland works with 20 permanent employees, who are distributed across 2 production teams.
An absolute top product is introduced to the market with a huge amount of passion and care.
Each bucket of Lisianthus is equipped with a unique badge number to optimally guarantee quality.
The flowers can therefore be traced far into the chain.
The Lisianthus range supplied by Sunrise Holland Nursery includes the very strong and popular Rosita, Excalibur and Arosa varieties.
All varieties are available in many different colours all year round.
Tens of millions of Lisianthus stems find their global destinations via the Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk and Rijnsburg flower auctions every year.
