Svartsengi Eruption to be over next days! Chamber emptied itself. No threat to Grindavik. 20.12.23

Volcanic activity at Svartsengi Volcanic System subsided dramatically. Now only one small vent is erupting and it likely to go off by the weekend or next week, according to the leading Icelandic volcanologist Thorvaldur Thordarsson. Most of the magma Chamber is likely to be empty. Land continues to subside (sank by 7 cm after 35 cm rise prior to the eruption). There was also no magma intrusion under Grindavik back in November, as previously thought.
