Exponential Data: Thriving Surviving & Knowledge Discovery in the Data Age. Dr. Michael Gillam @xMed
The world's most valuable resource is now data. Exponential technology has enabled a trillion sensors (~100 per person), with healthcare at the center. As healthcare data is now doubling every 18 months... the challenge is a shortage of humans to analyze and leverage the data and turn it into actionable information.
In this stellar talk at Exponential Medicine 2019, Dr. Michael Gillam explores the near future, where living data will be woven into the fabric of clinical care. Imagine a LiDAR for healthcare data to make it actionable in real-time to create living articles in medicine, solve reproducibility and remove preventable medical errors.
The promise and potential for robotic process animation for Real World Evidence (RWE) in healthcare is immense. Data factories that plug into the data lakes of hospitals and healthcare systems, to create n=1 studies, generating new articles in minutes will move us from laborious, custom built approaches...to data assembly lines , enabling continuous research improvement, improving reproducibility and outcomes. This has the potential to close the loop from discovery to translation, to the front lines of clinical care, pulling data from EMRs and beyond for 'drug of choice' and other precision information then can guide care.
Dr. Michael Gillam is a medical informaticist, researcher, software architect, health IT strategist and board certified in emergency medicine. More about Dr Gillam here: https://exponential.singularityu.org/medicine/faculty2019/michael-gillam-md/
