Global National: Nov. 10, 2020 | Trudeau calls on provinces to toughen coronavirus restrictions
In tonight's top story: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday urged Canadian provinces and territories to “do the right thing” and toughen public health restrictions as record-high numbers of COVID-19 cases surge across Canada. David Akin has more on the federal plea and the financial needs of provinces.
A group of Alberta doctors sent a letter to Premier Jason Kenny, warning of catastrophic consequences for the healthcare system if stronger restrictions aren't imposed. Heather Yourex-West reports on the concept of a circuit-breaker lockdown, which Alberta’s premier is reluctant to implement.
In Nova Scotia, a coalition of Mi'kmaq First Nations has partnered with Canada’s largest fishing company, Clearwater Seafoods, to buy 50 percent of its stakes and gain control of all its fishing licences in Canada. The move comes as a historic turn of events in the Indigenous fishing dispute in Nova Scotia.
President Donald Trump still claims he won the U.S. election, but president-elect Joe Biden calls this “an embarrassment” and that nothing will stop the transition of power when Trump’s term ends. Jackson Proskow reports on what could be behind Donald Trump’s refusal to concede the presidency.
And we conclude with the future of the Republican party after Trump’s loss of the U.S. election. Eric Sorensen looks at whether it will remain the "Trump party."
