3S to 4S battery protection board mod / hack - Electronic Project

Showing how to modify a 3 cell lithium cell protection board (YH11047A) for 4 cell operation. The board uses a S-8254A protection IC datasheet here: https://www.ablic.com/en/doc/datasheet/battery_protection/S8254A_E.pdf All the necessary components are on the board, they only need to be re-configured. I use a hot air gun to desolder the 1k resistor and re solder it in it's new location. Having modified the circuit I test the board with 4 18650 cells I recovered from an old laptop battery.The modified board works as it should. The board is only used to protect the cells, it is not a charging board. You need to supply the correct voltage for your chosen cells and ensure it has current limiting.
