Chicago's $8.5 Billion Mega Airport Project (O'Hare 21)

Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the United States and has the 2nd largest skyline in the United States behind only New York City! It is commonly referred to as the "architectural capital of the world" because it invented modern architecture and the skyscraper and is home to most world renowned architects, including the designers of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world! Chicago is also a major transportation hub! It was a major railroad hub in the US during the Industrial Age and it became a major aviation hub in the Jet Age! It was also famous for being the first Worlds Busiest Airport, holding that distinction from 1963 - 1998. However, recently, Chicago's airport has fallen behind in the world. The facilities have become increasingly outdated and cannot keep up with the increase in travel. To solve these problems, Chicago must completely redevelop their major airport. O'Hare 21 is Chicago's mega project to transform O'Hare from one of the worst airports to one of the best airports in the world to compete with the amazing East Asian and Middle Eastern airports! Let's take a close look at the O'Hare 21 project.
