Why We Need Strangers | Omar Dabbous | TEDxYouth@ABA

From such an early age, we’ve been taught about stranger danger and never to trust strangers. Despite it being reinforced into us, we end up unknowingly trusting them every single day. For example, think of eBay, Airbnb and Uber – these services are founded on the basis of trust. In this talk, Omar Dabbous discusses why even though taught not to, we end up trusting strangers on a daily basis. Many times, this can be dangerous. Other times, it’s extremely beneficial. Why do we trust strangers, and what does this mean for us as a society?
Omar is currently a junior at ABA and comes from Egypt and the United States. Omar holds strong interest in the fields of art and places high value on community service and initiative through his work in student led organizations. His talk titled "Why we trust strangers" discusses the sociology behind trust in the modern world.
